Sexual attraction is based on the five
senses. The first of our senses is visual.
Why are we attracted first by
appearance? Because that's where all primates receive their
sexual cues. Primal urges can flow strongly. At first we
glance, and then look more closely at the details of the
person. Subconsciously we check through our 'wish list' of
preferred appearance. Tall, short, fat, thin, muscley,
extroverted, introverted etc. You may say that you don't
choose someone by such criteria, as personality is more
important. It is, but deep down you know what you like the
look of. You have had the experience of a physical and
chemical attraction to someone before and stored that info
away, ready to be retrieved at any time.
Social psychologist Robert Zajonc says
that our emotions are sometimes more instantaneous than our
interpretations of a situation that we feel some emotions
before we THINK. Can you recall immediately liking someone
without knowing why? Some of our emotions, like attraction,
involve no deliberate rational thinking.
The undeniable curves of a woman are a
highly visual attraction, especially for men. Four areas have
a pronounced curve; the bottom, breasts, shoulders and knees.
Though not commonly thought as such, shoulders and knees of
women are very sexy. Recent research indicates that women
reveal more curves and have more flesh showing when they are
ovulating. The reproductive urge doesn't know about
contraception.
For women, there is the body shape
silhouette difference between the sexes which is very
apparent. Women are instinctively interested in the curves,
smoothness and strength which come with muscle formation in
men. The average male body has 15% fat compared to the female
with 28% fat.
Women are attracted to the other
physiological changes they interpret as representing
masculinity - the deeper voice, the hairy face, the hairier
body, the square jaw, larger hands and feet, and he is
generally taller as well. Women do a quick appraisal of their
understanding colour coordination and harmony, grooming and
fit of clothing. Women notice visual details men wouldn't
believe and are slow to tell you of their findings. They will
decide in your favour if you match 75% of their visual
EXPECTATION list.
Both men and women are fascinated with
breasts. Women's breasts are the wonderful visual difference
for men, and women know and exploit it! Modest women never
show cleavage, the less modest will show cleavage and or
nipples through tight and revealing clothing. Remember the
look of the breast changes with fashion. In the 1950s breasts
were strongly uplifted and pushed out. The sweater girl with
pointy breasts was 'in' Today the look of breasts under
clothing is more natural.
Is cup size a measure of a woman’s
attractiveness? Up to now, scientists have generally supported
this male fantasy, that bigger is better. Since female curves
first develop in puberty, says the conventional wisdom, Mother
Nature selected the breast for evolution both as a promise of
sex and to attract a mate for life. Big breasts were meant to
ensure that man and child maintained a lasting interest in the
breasts’ human appendage. The theory held that the more
voluptuous the form, the more successful the female, measured
in reproductive terms. In reality, most men prefer medium to
smaller breasts.
Women know men love their breasts, and
men know women love their chests and arms and the market place
reflects this, offering enormous ranges of gyms, tapes,
exercises, bras, clothing, chest expanding equipment, breast
enhancing creams and surgery. Current surgical options for
women include : Adjustable breast implants, breast
augmentation, breast lift and breast reduction. And for Men:
Adjustable breast implants, male breast reduction. Surgery is
through a minimal axillary incision (underarm) or
Trans-umbilical incision (via the navel)
