Food for LOVE
Kinky food play is about turning fantasy
into reality.
PREPARATION:
Your attitude effects your cooking. If you
cook with passion and creativity it will be reflected in both
your food and relationship.
There is a great deal of fun to be had in
the kitchen. If you’re passionate about food, you’re more than
likely to be passionate about sex. If you’ve never thought of
combining the two, now, here is your chance.
Food and sex are two of the greatest
pleasures in life and both appetites need to be fed.
This article looks at cooking, eating, and
playing with aphrodisiac foods to add sizzle and spice to an
old or new relationship.
What is an aphrodisiac? According to the
USA Food and Drug Administration:
"An aphrodisiac is a food, drink, drug,
scent, or device that, promoters claim, can arouse or increase
sexual desire, or libido."
A broader definition includes products that
improve sexual performance. Named after Aphrodite, the Greek
goddess of sexual love and beauty, the list of supposed sexual
stimulants includes anchovies and adrenaline, licorice and
lard, scallops and Spanish fly, and hundreds of other items."
APPETIZER:
When Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love,
sprang from the sea on an oyster shell and gave birth to Eros,
a working aphrodisiac was born. Of the many types of seafood,
oysters are the best known aphrodisiac. Caviar too, has earned
itself a reputation as a stimulant of sexual desire. Serve
caviar chilled with toast points. Alternatively serve it with
minced onions, lemon wedges and chopped hard-cooked egg. If
it's a good quality caviar, garnish is unnecessary.
Oysters are particularly esteemed as sex
aids, possibly gaining their reputation at a time when their
contribution of zinc to the nutritionally deficient diets of
the day could improve overall health, with a resultant
increase in libido. Some people are drawn to oysters as they
resemble the female vulva. Others delight in the texture of
the sexually changing mollusk, which spends its life
alternating between female and male. Casanova is said to have
been a firm believer in oysters, eating 50 each morning in the
bath, together with the woman he fancied at the time. Serve
oysters in the raw [uncooked, in the half shell] or try a new
recipe. Normally, oysters are eaten raw, but Gordon Hamersley,
the owner and executive chef of the Boston restaurant 'Hamersley's',
suggests a topping of sea urchin roe [which he says is a well
known aphrodisiac] and caviar to amplify the effects.
You won't end up overstuffed [and
underperforming] after half a dozen oysters in their shells,
followed by a mains of pasta [with tomatoes, onion, garlic and
herbs] and sensual fruits and chocolate for dessert washed
down with a glass of champagne or chardonnay.
MAIN COURSE:
Chillies, curries, and other spicy foods
have been viewed as aphrodisiacs because their physiological
effects. A raised heart rate and sweating, are similar to the
physical reactions experienced during sex. Some foods were
glorified as aphrodisiacs based on their rarity and mystery.
While chocolate was once considered the ultimate aphrodisiac,
the reputation wore off as it became more commercially
available.
Any food you eat with your fingers is sexy
and romantic. Some foods are known aphrodisiacs like oysters
because they are filled with zinc which is said to increase
both sperm and testosterone production as well as the
secretion of a vaginal lubricant. Other foods are visually
stimulating such as strawberries. Red is also the color of
sex. So find out what your lover’s favorite food aromas are
and indulge them. Share meals and feed one another. Share
finger foods by one person taking one end of the food in their
mouth and the other person taking the other end, then meet in
the middle. This can be fun with asparagus, long slices of
cucumber, carrot, celery and fruit.
Early Middle Eastern royalty regarded the
carrot to be a significant aid in seduction and enjoyed it
often. Grown deep in the earth this vegetable inspires deep,
private fantasies. Either raw or cooked, carrot can ignite
passions. Onions also have a great history. Egyptian priests
were not allowed to eat onions in case temptation became too
great. Greeks and Romans also believed that onions have
powerful aphrodisiac qualities.
Garlic's use as an aphrodisiac was
widespread not only among Egyptians, but also among Greeks,
Romans, Chinese and Japanese, and has persisted to this day.
Long tender stalks of asparagus evoke
erotic images. Bert Greene writes that in nineteenth century
France, convention degreed that a bridegroom's prenuptial
dinner contain at least three courses of warm asparagus
because of its reputed aphrodisiac powers. Any food that
resembles the sexual organs are visually erotic.
Cook with an oil high in Vitamin E, which
prevents impotence and enhances sexual function. You'll find
Vit.E in most vegetable oils, particularly corn and wheat oil.
In sunflower oil, in varieties of nut oils like peanut or
hazelnut. In oats, spinach, asparagus, dandelion, parsley and
sprouted corn.
Onions have, almost since prehistoric time,
been attributed aphrodisiac properties. They are mentioned in
classic Hindu texts on the art of making love. They were the
most used aphrodisiac in ancient Greece, and are frequently
included as an ingredient in erotic recipes. Pasta dishes,
flavoured with the above herbs and spices (as below) and lots
of ripe, luscious, red tomatoes are especially seductive.
SPICES:
Ginger has a solid reputation of being a
powerful aphrodisiac. The compound allegedly responsible for
hallucinogenic and aphrodisiacal effects of nutmeg is
myristicin, which also occurs in parsley and carrot.
Saffron can reputedly make erogenous zones
even more sensitive and have a hormone-like effect. Saffron is
a key ingredient in many erotic dishes. Rock salt obtained
from the salt mines of Sindh was considered to be an
aphrodisiac and a heart tonic. Herbal spices such as mint,
rosemary, salvia and thyme also have aphrodisiac qualities.
The reputation of pepper being an
aphrodisiac goes back to Antiquity, when it was used by
Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Black pepper are the dried,
unripe fruits, and white pepper the dried, ripe fruits. The
Arabs not only added pepper to food, but used it other ways.
For example a powder applied vigorously to the penis was
designed to increase the size. The effect was said to "[The
penis] will then grow large and brawny, and afford the woman a
marvellous feeling of voluptuousness."
Vanilla is the unripe fruit of an orchid,
Vanilla planifolia. Derived from the Spanish word vainila, a
diminutive of vaina meaning vagina. Vanilla is a well known
powerful aphrodisiac, acting through its odour as much as
through its taste. Vanilla essence [extracted from real
vanilla] can be added to your bath to produce a mild sexually
arousing effect, especially when you and your partner bathe
together.
DESSERT:
After a delicious [or a more formal]
dinner, you can turn dessert into a sensual ritual. With some
fruits, chocolate and/or whipped cream and some crushed ice,
take your and your lovers taste buds on an erotic journey.
Strawberries and cherries are both very
sensual. Fresh strawberries covered in white chocolate are
heavenly. Bite into the strawberry and taste the sweetness of
the chocolate and then the squirt of sweet strawberry juice.
Lick the juice from your lovers lips. Serve cherries in a bowl
of juice or better still dipped in dark chocolate.
Figs and bananas are naughty looking fruit
that stimulates our most erotic organ, our brain. Food that
looks, feels, smells and tastes good is erotic and sensual.
The peach is ripe, sensual and arousing. The Chinese have long
associated the peach with ripe sexuality. It resembles the
female genitalia.
The papaya's (pawpaw) musky fragrance and
sweet, succulent flesh is a tropical delight, bespeaking
passion! Grapes are thought to be the oldest fruit and their
reputation as an aphrodisiac seems to be as old. A fruit
platter including a generous bunch of firm and juicy green or
red grapes, plump with juice, are a treat with a side bowl of
freshly whipped cream to dip the fruit into, and then dripped
into your lovers mouth.
Everyone has unique areas that can be
stimulated to produce sensual and erotic feelings. Rub ice up
and down your lovers spine, behind their ears and down the
neck, around the nipples and breasts, on the inside of the
thighs ... Spray whipped cream or chocolate mousse or drip
fresh chocolate sauce [recipe in Seduction by Chocolate"] on
the parts of your lovers body you most enjoy licking off. Hide
small wedges of fruit or chocolate on your body and let your
lover find it using only their tongue. Use food on top of your
lover not inside them.
BEVERAGES TO SIP:
The aphrodisiac virtues of wine were born a
long time ago. There is a saying that 'Whiskey makes a girl
stop arguing, Beer soothes her, Gin disarms her, Rum cajoles
her and Champagne arouses her.'
Champagne has proven to be a lavish tool to
stimulate lust in one's lover! Casanova, the great lover,
gave champagne to his new conquests so that they should fall
into his web. Biochemists have studied the champagne
phenomenon and discovered that it acts upon certain areas of
the brain by disinhibiting them.
Alcohol is actually a depressant, and so,
as the porter in Shakespeare's Macbeth observed, it "provokes
the desire, but it takes away the performance." Drinking too
much actually decreases desire. A 1994 study published in the
British scientific journal Nature claimed that intake of
alcohol would raise the testosterone level of women. Normally,
women produce about one tenth the amount men do. According to
Dr. Weil "additional small amounts can dramatically increase
the libido. For women who lack sexual interest and desire, the
treatment can be life-changing."
So there you have it. With a bit of
imagination and a trip to the market for some fresh meats,
fruit, cream, vegetables and other ingredients, and a bottle
of champagne, the time is ripe for a sensual and sexy dinner
for two.
Enjoy..
