Internet Arousal

Over 1,100 women responded to an online questionnaire and four out of ten said they actively spend time surfing internet sex sites and a third do so with their partner.

The survey aimed to find out what experiences users of a female website (allabouteve) had of sex on the internet. The results indicate women are not afraid of using the net as a sex aid. 63% were interested in getting online tips for a better sex life; 54% were interested in advice and support on sex; 46% would buy sex books, toys or videos online; 40% were interested in visiting sex sites; 40% were interested in using the internet to explore different sexual practices and 53% like to go online to giggle at what they find.

The women said surfing sex sites was largely a way of enhancing an existing relationship, rather than a way of meeting new partners. More than 75% said they would steer clear of sex chat rooms, 84% said would say no to indulging in cybersex in a chat room with a stranger and 87% would not be interested in finding a sexual partner online.

Of those who took part, 65% were married, 70% were aged 26 to 45, 96% were heterosexual and 48% had children. The website belongs to women's magazine EVE and the results are available on allabouteve.
